Leo's Birthday

It was no ordinary day for Leo for it was her birthday and everyone at Zodiac academy was in the spirit of the event. After all she was a wealthy heiress, stunningly beautiful and her presence and poise captured everyone's attention. When she walked down the hallways people moved aside as if Leo was dividing the sea and in tow was her faithful companion Ginrei who claimed to be more enamoured with Leo than anyone else.

 

She would have difficulty getting to her locker today however as there was a mountain of letters blocking the entire row. It seemed that Leo's potential suitors had stuffed her locker to the point they gave up and just piled their tokens of affection in front of it. "Do they have no respect for everyone else's lockers?" Leo huffed and sent a swift kick to the pile that sent the letters flying and her suitors hearts in pieces.

 

Ginrei swooned at the idea that Leo cared for her fellow students. As expected of someone as amazing as Leo. "Perhaps we should retire to our private quarters m'lady."

 

"If it means I can enjoy your tea then I have no objections." Leo's warm words and smile sent Ginrei into a tizzy.

 

Ginrei was so excited she took Leo's arm and helped her lady escape so they could retreat to the ninja room. Their team mates were waiting for them there with gifts at the ready. Of course there was no way they could beat Ginrei's amazing gift of a framed picture of Leo and Ginrei and tickets to Leo's favourite show.

 

Aimu would be the first to step forward, her short stature contained a big heart and she presented a box to Leo "Though I'm not a fallen-angel in this life I found you deserving of a truly angelic gift my lady!" Leo opened the box and found frankincense and myrrh.

 

Kurohoro chuckled and tussled Aimu's hair "Are you an angel or the three magi?"

 

Aimu pouted "Are you doubting my lineage?"

 

Kurohoro scoffed "I'm just saying there's a reason you were cast out of heaven."

 

Leo sensed Aimu's frustration and came to her aid. She fixed Aimu's hair and petted her affectionately.  "Now, now I like the gift. Thank you dearest." Ginrei was filled with envy.

 

Kurohoro presented her leader with a gift that would truly capture her interest: it was a small letter opener sized blade. "A lady of your birth and status should not be caught unaware. Should you need it I can even demonstrate how to apply a flesh-eating toxin to the blade."

 

"I'm not sure that part will be necessary but I'm glad you're concerned for my well being." Leo pocketed the dagger and Kurohoro gave her a pass on the unimaginative hiding place since it was Leo's birthday.

 

Syuri was next and she rushed over to make her presence known. "She is not the only one concerned for you I present you with this sceptre. I have enchanted it with a spell to allow you to raise a forcefield."

 

Leo ran her fingers over the shaft and the winged ornament and discovered it was made of plastic "Will it truly work?"

 

Syuri shrugged her shoulders "More than likely."

 

Leo thanked her friends for their gifts and joined them to delight in Ginrei's tea with an array of shortbread and scones at hand. The cake would have to wait until later than night but this was more than enough to make Leo happy. The girls spent so much time enraptured by their conversation that they didn't notice when Leo dozed off resting a teacup and saucer in her lap.
