The difference between /v/ and /a/; tripfags

a guest Nov 16th, 2015 3 Never
  1. (07:09:54) +fsdfdsf: Sometimes the way these people from /v/ talk about /a/ shit posting on their board I wonder if I'm one of the few who never leaves /a/
  2. (07:16:45) +errorname457: Most of their complaints are about the obvious bunch, ex. klonie wannabes. Beyond that its the "is there a videogame as deep as k-on," and that's nothing worth worrying about and it mostly goes away if you keep the pseudo-quinten threads down
  3. (07:17:43) +fsdfdsf: That sounds like people from /v/ taking advantage of /v/'s rage to me, I can't believe kronie has a following on /v/.
  4. (07:18:59) +fsdfdsf: When ever I see people trying to reason with shit posters to try and cure the "cancer" I think back to attempts to get rid of Park Ranger and how nothing but mod intervention worked.
  5. [...]
  6. (07:20:41) +errorname457: He doesn't have a following, he's usually pretty ignored I'm finding. I'll maybe find one guy consistently arguing with him, but that's about it. I'm talking more about the style of using screencaps from anime or whatnot and trying to stir up shit, that's what they try to immitate. I'm more of a late night janitor so I don't know for sure how effective it is mid-day, but it is fairly uneffective later at night
  7. (07:21:11) +fsdfdsf: I see
  8. (07:21:16) +errorname457: For that reason I'm a little happy about /v/, I don't think you can ever something equivalent to /v/ as you can sort of connect /a/ to /kuru/
  9. (07:21:25) +errorname457: Different culture and all that
  10. (07:24:00) +errorname457: Didn't you mention that Rugarrel was giving you grief on /a/?
  11. (07:24:11) +fsdfdsf: Yea he shows up sometimes
  12. (07:24:15) +fsdfdsf: Generally around Nagi
  13. (07:24:27) +errorname457: Yeah, would you say he sort of follows the patterns of Mordin in posting?
  14. (07:24:41) +errorname457: He comes in, makes small talk, seems neutral but still indulges in it?
  15. (07:25:34) +fsdfdsf: They are both shit posters and I do agree similar to each other so I'd say yes but Mordin is bigger since he's a homosexual, there's people who want to roll play and stroke is ego for whatever reason.
  16. (07:26:09) +fsdfdsf: Every time he posts the threads devolve into that shit
  17. (07:26:58) +errorname457: Right. You don't see that much on /v/, no one really indulges with him in that. There can be some nice conversation but he usually gets bitched out if he goes too much off track (or if he just talks at all)
  18. (07:27:19) +fsdfdsf: Mordin also got big off Pokemon trainers haressment, people made fan fics of pokemon trainer and mordin having sex
  19. (07:28:24) +fsdfdsf: That's good
  20. (07:28:36) +fsdfdsf: /v/ is dong a better job than /a/, they just feed him attention regardless
  21. (07:30:16) +errorname457: It comes with the territory, /v/ by its nature is too large and too heterogenous to actually get atatched to someone like what you might see on /a/ or /co/, the board doesn't care too much for one tripcode user's e-drama. It cares more about showmanship
  22. (07:30:58) +fsdfdsf: Siztra is our Drama starter currently, he's over here trying to bring porky back to the board by fucking with him
  23. (07:31:11) +errorname457: Which is why Donkey Kong or Duke are pretty well liked, they rarely get into personal matters but they always earned their reputation through their work rather than conversation. On /a/, I would say its more of the opposite, where conversation gets you attention
  24. (07:31:16) +fsdfdsf: I am also not convinced Siztra isn't Parky
  25. (07:31:48) +fsdfdsf: I would agree
  26. (07:32:19) +fsdfdsf: Contributions get you attention too
  27. (07:32:30) +fsdfdsf: Like freshly translated doujins or H manga
  28. (07:33:04) +fsdfdsf: Those are the good tripfags though, the attention whores get big off conversaion just like you say
  29. (07:34:00) +fsdfdsf: That isn't to say either that you can't be a good tripfag by providing stimulating conversation, Jake the trip is one of my favorite tripfags because he's fun to discuss things with.
  30. (07:35:05) +errorname457: That reminds me, there was a thread some weeks back about that one PSP game, the one about the ninjas with large tits and clothing damage
  31. (07:36:06) +errorname457: I can't remember the thread, but a doujin translator showed up in it at the end showing off the stuff he's collected. Neat stuff like that is what makes me love the board.
  32. [...]
  33. (07:36:40) +fsdfdsf: yea stuff like that is always fun
  34. (07:38:41) +errorname457: Anyways, good conversation from consistent people can also be hard to come by on /v/. RED Sniper can be good so long as you stay 10 miles away from the topic of Halo, but I can't name too many people with tripcodes that are known for their conversation. Nature of the board and all that.
  35. (07:44:33) +errorname457: I know /v/ gives /a/ a lot of grief, especially you /a/ janitors, but I do have a story you might like. During the time /v/ was knocked off the foolz archive for a bit, there was a minor uproar on their dev forum about it as it seemed like it was removed for good based on the ambiguity of what one of the foolz staff said.
  36. (07:45:17) +errorname457: Naturally, being a very active thread on foolz it attracted Siztra who started doing his usual thing, saying "LOL! I hope they drop /v/, what a worthless board"
  37. (07:47:06) +fsdfdsf: Typical Siztra
  38. (07:47:09) +errorname457: A guy then said something to the effect of ">implying an attention whore who spends his time posting anime girl pictures on /a/ understands the worth of time," which led to some laughter
  39. (07:47:25) +errorname457: Siztra then tried coming back up with something but no one payed attention to him, and he fucked off
  40. (07:47:32) +fsdfdsf: lol
  41. (07:47:37) +errorname457: Proud of /v/ that day
  42. (07:47:45) +fsdfdsf: Good job /v/
