- THE STORY SO FAR:
- It began with a letter.
- The letter requested the help of any adventurer willing to answer it. Sent by the baron of Caenport, it detailed little except a call for help, and the promise of reward.
- There were many who answered the call.
- Urist Ajir, dwarf ranger.
- Hans Hatrane, human cleric.
- Glophren, gnome druid.
- Lusineed Dredson, half-elf bard.
- Elmdor, human rogue.
- Naomi, human bard.
- Kenshira, human monk.
- Sending Rinwen, one of his maidservants- a half-elf with a talent for sorcery, with them, they departed to the southwest.
- Their quest entailed the rescue of a few of his guards, who had been captured by a band of orcs. First encountering the majority of their group in the forest, what they did fight was handily dispatched by the large group.
- After a night of rest and planning, the group executed their scheme to take down the orc leader. Not backing down in the face of significant danger, the group handled the situation expertly, exterminating the small force of orcs and liberating the soldiers.
- They returned to town triumphant.
- A meeting with the king saw their just reward, and Rinwen's release, the baron knowing that adventuring was her true calling. The party's celebration was brief, however, as the majority of them banded together again in hot pursuit of a band of orcs, who had kidnapped the princess of a city to the south.
- Trekking across the countryside, they planned to head them off at a small village on the west side of the boundaries of the territory- the village itself served as the last point before the path devolved into the uncultured badlands beyond, where tracking would become all but impossible.
- Leading a stand, the group fought valiantly, forcing the remaining orcs to surrender. Among them was an unconscious arcane caster, which everyone found odd.
- What was more odd was the behavior of the princess, once she was rescued. But, she appeared unharmed, so not much was said of it.
- The trek back to the capital city began.
- ---
- Meanwhile, a lone, nameless paladin stood at the entrance of a large, imposing building that would later become known as the Phoenix Shrine.
- In her pursuit of the goal of clearing the dungeon, she encountered a strange sword, which held the spirit of a noble-sounding girl within. The girl introduced herself as Amelia Aphiel, princess of Carabel, the nearby town, who'd been stuck within the sword a few days prior after she was captured by a band of orcs.
- After clearing the dungeon (as far as she could- there was an iron trap door to the basement which she was unable to open) she retreated back to town.
- ---
- Also in the same vicinity, Rose Etalya, an elven ranger, explored a cave within the foothills north of Carabel. She found a cave that looked like it blasted through to some sort of subterranean complex, which due to a barred door she found herself unable to traverse. However, she was able to rescue a girl who had presumably been petrified long ago, and returned her safely to town.
- She then consorted with people requesting help in the town, and found herself tricked and lead to another nearby cave, in which a small tunnel lead again to the underground complex, suggesting that it might in fact sprawl for some distance beneath the earth. Resigning this fact for later exploration, she returned to town, where she met the nameless paladin and Amelia.
- Setting up a meeting with the King, Amelia was returned, albeit still a sword, to the royal family, and the two were given a generous reward.
- ---
- A few hours after those events, the main group of adventurers were given a warm, but slightly puzzled, welcome to the town. The princess that had traveled with them excused herself back into the palace, the king once again overjoyed at her return.
- Rose and the paladin, now named Lexi, were of course promptly thrown into the castle's prison.
- Following a hunch, however, the main party continued to investigate the weirdness. With the help of Tielain Lamiah, one of the royal wizards, they were able to defeat the impostor's plot and restore Amelia to normalcy, thereby clearing Rose and Lexi's names of wrongdoing.
- After a few days of relaxation, a small number of the party departed to the shrine where Amelia was found, exploring two more of its bottom floors before finding themselves stuck by an underwater, barred door.
- Following that, the majority of the party set off once again towards the north, having heard about a tower of some importance, and somehow connected to the Phoenix Shrine.
- Said tower would become known as the Bull Tower. Within, they encountered a skeleton warrior, and at the top of the tower was a stone brass dragon, which came to life and questioned the party.
- Lusineed was made aware of his dragon heritage, and given a strange ruby necklace.
- On the party's way back into town, they were ambushed by a beholder, which petrified and imprisoned them, save for Rose who escaped, taking the road back into Carabel and questioning Tielain for assistance. She was happy to repay a favor, and both took off for the beholder's lair.
- Inside, they were both ambushed and petrified as well.
- Three weeks passed.
- A strange girl named Amara, known as a Wilder, infiltrated the beholder's lair, rescuing all those trapped within. During their stay, Naomi's petrified form had shattered, but the party endured significant risk to restore her as well, retreating back to Carabel.
- The party then travelled back to Caenport, dropping a retiring Naomi off at her home there. Rose and Amara teamed up with a rogue Rose was acquainted with to explore a tomb, and found no one other than the cursed skeleton warrior from the tower. He sought the information on who he named as his master within the tomb, but the aforementioned 'master' had long become a mummy, a twisted form of himself. After assisting in his destruction, the skeleton disappeared, seemingly into thin air.
- From Rose's acquaintance, the party gained knowledge of ruins not unlike the Bull Tower, to the east of the city. However, they chose to delay a visit there, instead returning to the city to the south. On the way down, they inspected a strange temple on top of a hill- while filled with an amount of strange magical effects, it was ultimately harmless, and so the group continued towards Carabel.
- Once there, they received a number of necklaces that would allow any one member of the party to communicate with all others, and information that the sword that contained Amelia had been stolen, in addition to the princess herself having fallen oddly unconscious. For fear the event had repeated itself, the King sent the group to retrieve the sword once more, and so they left to the south.
- On the way there, they came across another ruin, with a statue in the shape of an owl, and statues lining the entryway. However, both routes inward were blocked by a wall of force, and so there remained little to do.
- Taking again off to the south, camp was interrupted by the first night of the full moon, sending all magic items awry. What little effect this had wore off at noon the next morning, right around the same time they approached the small town of Nerochel.
- Searching for information within, the group found that there was little to discover- the group they pursued had already left to the city of Northrall, to the east, where magic was strictly banned.
