  1. Hi folks,
  2.
  3. It looks like there is a discrepancy between the official university calendar and the course outline I handed out at the start of the semester.
  4.
  5. The official calendar entry here:
  6. http://papers.waikato.ac.nz/subjects/COMP/COMP301
  7. states that there is NO EXTERNAL EXAM for this course, i.e. the ratio of assessment:exam is 1:0.
  8.
  9. When you enrolled in 301, you should have done so on the basis of this calendar entry and therefore expected no final exam.
  10.
  11. We therefore cannot have a final exam. As a result the weightings of the assignments and tests need to be modified. They will be:
  12. Test 1 -- 20%
  13. Assignment 1 -- 30%
  14. Test 2 -- 20%
  15. Assignment 2 -- 30%
  16.
  17. To compensate for a lack of the final exam, I can move the second test to the last week of term.
  18.
  19. If anyone is not happy and wants to have a final external exam, let me know -- if there are a lot of people who want an exam, you will all need to sign an agreement that there will be a final exam for 301 in order for it to happen.
  20.
  21. Apologies for the confusion, I did not realize that the final exam had been removed as of last year for this course!!
  22.
  23. Mike
