Hi folks,
It looks like there is a discrepancy between the official university calendar and the course outline I handed out at the start of the semester.
The official calendar entry here:
http://papers.waikato.ac.nz/subjects/COMP/COMP301
states that there is NO EXTERNAL EXAM for this course, i.e. the ratio of assessment:exam is 1:0.
When you enrolled in 301, you should have done so on the basis of this calendar entry and therefore expected no final exam.
We therefore cannot have a final exam. As a result the weightings of the assignments and tests need to be modified. They will be:
Test 1 -- 20%
Assignment 1 -- 30%
Test 2 -- 20%
Assignment 2 -- 30%
To compensate for a lack of the final exam, I can move the second test to the last week of term.
If anyone is not happy and wants to have a final external exam, let me know -- if there are a lot of people who want an exam, you will all need to sign an agreement that there will be a final exam for 301 in order for it to happen.
Apologies for the confusion, I did not realize that the final exam had been removed as of last year for this course!!
