  1. Mailstorage Network requirements
  2. ================================
  3.
  4. TP
  5. ---
  6.
  7. We are using the old backupstorage racks to implement the new mailstorage clusters in TP so that we do not have to have extra rack space allocated in the hall.  This means that we can re-use some of the cabling that is in that rack but we need to add more, current cabling in there is as below :-
  8.
  9. NOW
  10.
  11. Rack N009 and N010 (per rack)
  12.
  13. 1 serial
  14. 4 ethernet - 2 x 2 ports bonded together to make two virtual 2Gbps connections with one favoured, both in PTP iNetAppNet
  15. 1 OOB/RLM - iServersASR0[1-2]ManagementNet
  16.
  17. NEEDED
  18.
  19. Rack N009 and N010 (per rack)
  20.
  21. 2 serial
  22. 8 ethernet
  23. 2 OOB
  24.
  25. So in summary we will need 8 ethernet, 2 serial and 2 OOB reconfiguring and 8 ethernet, 2 serial and 2 OOB creating and configuring in TP
  26.
  27. This will mean adding new config to the network for these devices that will be mailstorage01-04 in the old backup storage racks and using the current ports that backupstorage used (these devices have been retired back to Velocity until the backup project is kicked off again, at which time they can go back in the old mailstorage racks as they will be then empty).
  28.
  29. Work required from networky person
  30. -----------------------------------
  31.
  32. IPs allocating for all 4 new mailstorage devices (naming will be same as old devices for now which will be confusing for a short time whilst we have both sets of devices but nice and clean afterwards).
  33.
  34. Devices at TP will be mailstorage01 and 02 in rack N009 and mailstorage04 and 05 in N010, they will need the same rules/access setting up as the current mailstorage01 and 02, for NFS, SSH, NAT, etc.
  35.
  36.
  37. IH
  38. ---
  39.
  40. In IH we are not sure of the rack location and the install depends on staging being moved out of IH so that we have the spare power capacity to be able to turn on the new DR mailstorage devices, the ports required will be through to the gig switches in pih-sw25 (stacked switch). We will need the same access configuring for these devices which will be named mailstorage03 and mailstorage06 as the access that is configured for the current mailstorage03.
  41.
  42. Also the current mailstorage03 is currently sat on the 192 network so we may want to fix this at the same time and move it to a better place, one less thing to do if we ever get round to fixing the network at IH.
  43.
  44. In IH the 4 ethernets are all bonded together for 1 4Gbps port channel and the RLM sits on the 172 network
