  1. Character Name: idor
  2.
  3. Class: Priest
  4.
  5. Specialization: Shadow
  6.
  7. 1. Please provide an armory link for your character.: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/l ... r/advanced
  8.
  9. 2. Are you comfortable playing all of your specs in a high level raiding environment?: Currently I don’t find the two healers specs (holy and disc) enjoyable, I am mainly focused on the dps role , but if it’s extremely needed I can swap to heals and search more about it to play it on a raiding environment ,but I will prefer to stay as dps since I spend most of the time researching on it (watching streams , searching on the forums ) , however I found disc really fun and interesting to play in legion I might consider playing it more often as an off spec .
  10.
  11. 3. What is the most undervalued aspect of your class?: Lots of guilds don’t consider bringing shadow priests to their raids because they think that the spec doesn’t do that much damage and can be useless in a raid environment, but they are wrong. Shadow’s toolkit is really strong in a progress environment, it may seem that its week since lots of shadow priests don’t really know how to use all the potential that the spec brings, multidotting is the strongest aspect of shadow, we don’t lose dps by swapping to adds and dotting then, instead we gain a lot of orbs with (auspicious spirits) which is spend in main targets with devouring plague and brings a strong single target and burst damage. Shadow has been really strong in the last couple bosses of an instance due to the style of the fights there is always 1 main target that needs to die fast and bunch of adds that you can dot or burned down with cascade, speaking of which is cascade or halo + Vampiric embrace is the strongest healing cd of hybrids at the moment which gives shadow huge potential and be considered bringing them to an encounter and many guilds don’t consider this aspect.
  12.
  13. 4. What guild(s) have you been in and why are you wanting to leave?: I've been on centered-Lightbringer ,currently (5/13M) I decided to leave the guild because I wanted a more serious and committed guild where I can develop all my potential and also because their raid times changed and I can’t keep with them anymore.
  14.
  15. 5. Why are you applying to Good Talk? What can you bring to the guild that other players of your class won't?: I am applying to good talk because it’s the guild I was always aiming for, I wanted to get something more serious by not sacrificing many hours so I found Good talk the right place to do so and where I could develop all the potential I have . I put a lot of work and effort in all the things I do, when it comes to wow I spend I lot of time with my shadow priest always searching on the forums, chatting with other shadow buddies about the changes blizzard is making, currently there is lot of discussion for shadow in legion since the class is getting redesigned and there are a lot of new things to be tested. I am always watching hesp’s stream which I consider one of the best shadow priests in the world , he does a lot of tests on alpha searching for optimal rotations that spec might have in legion and working around the talents , I also watch a lot of raid testing streams and I analyze the fights to think ahead how the encounter might be for shadow , what talents I might be picking up , how would I optimize my movement on the fight , how I will handle the mechanics correctly ,etc . Sadly I don’t have yet alpha access, but I hope I can get it soon so I can get more depth into the spec and experience it.
  16.
  17. 6. Tell us about yourself (can be anything you think we'd find interesting).: Hello my name is Diego I am 19 years old, currently studying electronic engineering in lima-Peru , I love technology ,astronomy and of course world of Warcraft ., I also like stormy and windy days. Talking more about my personality I can be a bit quiet at first but I get a lot more talkative when I get to know more people , I consider that I am not usually in distress when it comes to progress instead I keep calm and focused ,I care a lot about what I do, for example in wow I take very seriously my role as dps because I'm always looking for ways to optimize my spec in different situations ,planning on what my moves are going to be to execute the mechanic properly by not losing a lot of dps also I spend a lot of time checking forums like HowTopriest or asking some well-known shadow priests like hesp(midwinter) or Viklund(serenity) about their thoughts of talent choose and tricks they found in different encounters. I also like checking my logs to find ways of improving and changing my performance.
  18.
  19. 7. What sort of past progression raiding experience do you have?: Hellfire Citadel (13/13 H , 5/13 M ) –
  20. Blackrock Foundry (9/9 H)
  21. Highmaul (7/7 H , 3/9 M)
  22. Siege of Ogrimmar (13/14 Heroic (pre nerf) )
  23.
  24. 8. How do you best utilize your talents in the current raiding content?: Currently shadow has suffered a lot of changes specially the playstyle has changed throughout HFC many times , some talents that were really strong in progress (AS or mindbender) have lost a lot of their potential because the fights nowadays have really quick kill times and adds die super-fast to have a benefit from AS . CoP + the class trinket(haste built or mastery build ) + insanity is now the go to talents for almost every fight in HFC , this playstyle is just single target oriented because of how the class trinket and CoP works , you are basically focused on just one target (boss) , target swapping can be a huge dps loss because you need to build up stacks of the class trinket on the new target , basically this is the main problem that shadow is facing in farm days , back on progress we were one of the best multidoters , but now our dots are not super strong , and is better to just pick single target and play dotless shadow .
  25. So here is a sum up of the talents I pick on different encounters.
  26. Lvl 15: I pick Angelic bulwark because it’s a strong shield that pops up whenever I drop below 30% health, On Iskar I go for Spectral guise because you can drop off the fel chakram. On xhul’horac it’s also useful because you can drop off the chains and force the boss to target it on the mages or warlocks.
  27. Lvl30: I pick body and soul, which gives my power word: shield a movement boost. Phantasm it’s useful on tyrant because it removes the slowing debuff.
  28. Lvl45: I pick insanity because I will be mainly playing with CoP .
  29. Lvl 60:Doesn’t bring that much utility I usually pick void tendrils to root some adds if I have to kite them.
  30. Lvl75: I always pick twist of fate you can have a huge uptime on fights with a lot of adds even on single target its way better than the other ones.
  31. Lvl90: If the fight has 2 + targets and they are spread you will always want to pick cascade, but if it its pure single target or the adds are always stack you want to go witch halo.On kormrok there a trick with halo, you can cast it from max halo rage 1 sec before the boss is will end his gripping hands cast then you quickly go back to the group with glyph of restored faith and mind sear the adds , that halo with still hit the hands. Same trick can be applied on mannoroth with the imps however I found cascade more useful to kill the infernals faster.
  32. Lvl 10: I always pick CoP
  33. Regarding glyphs for mayor ones I pick reflective shield glyph because it gives and offensive value to power word shield ,I also pick restored faith witch changes leap of faith , instead of gripping someone you grip your soul into someone else , it’s really useful to move fast from danger zones . Last one I use is glyph of fade because it gives a 10% damage reduction whenever you cast fade (is off the gcd).
  34.
  35. 9. Explain in detail how you play your primary spec. Include CD usage, rotation, and any subtleties that improve your performance. Convince us you understand how to play your spec to its potential.: CoP playstyle is really simple nowadays , first you need to get a haste breakpoint which is 35%(2500) and then you can stack mastery , it’s very optimal to start with 5 orb because it makes the opener really strong and keeps the rotation smooth , to start the opener you pre pot at around 2 sec before pull then you start precasting mindspike , after that you immediately pop shadow fiend followed by you first dp and mindblast then you start channeling insanity to build up stacks of the class trinket and make the best use of the ring ,you keep mind blast on CD , and then cast a second mindspike (this mind spike can be changed for cascade if there are more than 2 targets up for example a doomfire on archimonde ) , after that you apply your second DP and keep channeling insanity for about 3 ticks ,by this time you might want to start building up orbs again and keeping the stacks of the class trinket up with either mindflay or insanity , you keep spamming mind spike and mind blast until you get into your next insanity phase and keep channeling it .The main goal is to be always casting insanity instead of mindflay by keeping mb on cd always , haste helps a lot to get into insanity faster because it lowers the CD of mindblast and increases the speed of the rotation. If there is a second target up generally you want to dot it with shadow word pain when the target its around 40-45% so when the shadow word pain expires you can get the buff of twist of fate and also be in execute range to snipe some shadow word deaths and gain more orbs to get back into the insanity channeling faster , it’s important to optimize the Twist of fate buff because it’s a significant dps increase , so you need to find always the best ways of getting it from an add.Cascade optimize is really important too , you should think ahead if the cascade will bounce enough to be worth casting , being in max cascade range and knowing the timers well , it’s crucial so you can time your cascade and use it properly, also there is where you most likely will be poping vampiric embrace for the big heals it brings , an example of a perfect cascade usage with Vamp is the combo on archimonde when there are dogs up and the raid is with wrought chaos on ,this helps a lot your healers because cascade will bounce a lot and be translated into healing with vamp . When it comes to optimize your movement , you can move in between gcds or with mind blast on cd , there is trick if you have to move really far , first you need to have a dp ready because you will lose a mind spike and instead you will cast dip early to begin insanity and not lose the class trinket debuff so you channel the insanity for 3 ticks and then you mind blast so you could get 4 ticks on your next insanity, it works as if you had an extra global movement .
  36.
  37. 10. Explain the general strategy for the last boss of current content. Then explain in detail how you can excel as your class during this encounter.: Mythic archimonde is now less complicated than it used to be before ring upgrades and illv boost you can get only 1 doomfire by poping hero at the start however some guilds don’t decide to pop hero on pull and get the second doomfire which is not a big deal anyways and its more optimals becouse hero will be need on the last phase . At the start of the encounter your main focus is to kill the first doomfire and deathcaller really quick , if you get targeted by the doomfire you kite it a bit away from the group so the soaker can gather it easily, once the doomfire is killed and the fire is soaked , we all get loosely stacked so the desecrate can spawn near to the group and we can get the debuff , then we spread 8 yards to deal with shadowfel burst and after its casted we all soak it , after that the second desecrate should happen again and the second doomfire should be also up so we must focus it and kill it as soon as possible , once its killed we try to get the orb buffs and again by this time the boss should be around 70% and begin the second phase , all players should be prepared and be spread for wrought chaos , it’s very helpful to use ERT or any weak aura that can show the lasers so you can position yourself better and avoid lasers hitting multiple players ,once wrought chaos finishes the boss will cast shackled torment on 3 different players , this players should move to max range of the shackled and wait for the raid leaders timer on when to break , the rest of the raid will move away from the shackled radio so they don’t get killed by the explosion , its essential to have the radar and see if you are safe to break the shackled. Once its broke you go back to the group and keep being spread because the second wrought chaos will be casted ,it’s also important the the deathcaller is focused and killed really quick the legendary ring might be up again to burst down the deathcaller , once the wrought chaos is casted dreadstalker will appear so it’s important to kill them and be aware of the aoe and interrupts they do .by this time the second shackled torment will appear and we will repeat what we did with the first one , the third wrought chaos will happened and also the third shackled torment so at this time we don’t break those shackles instead we try to push the boss into the third phase . the boss will pull everything on the first room into the nether and start 3rd phase , it’s important that we kill any reaming adds then we all spread out to the edges of the room so we can spawn the dark conduits far away so we can have more room for following conduits after all 3 conduits are casted we all should be going to our assigned markers because mark of the legion will happen and we need to spread the damage in 4 different groups after that, the first set of infernals will come so they must be spread and killed super quick , once they are death source of chaos will be casted on a tank and we must focus it and kill it quick after its killed the boss will cast seething corruption and there are 4 different patterns of this ability all the raid must find the gaps and move to the safe places so they don’t get insta killed by it , its recommended to learn how the patterns work so can know where will be safe to move, once the ability finishes the boss will cast void stars on 4 different players , so everyone must switch to them so the players target by them don’t get knocked off the platform ,after this the boss will cast his second mark of the legion and we all should be prepared to stack on our assigned markers, after this second wave of infernals will spawn ,like the first one this should be spread , stunned and killed quick , second source of chaos will be also casted on a tank and we should focus it because there is also coming the second seething corruption and we should be prepared to follow the pattern ,once this is finished we should be spread and away from any dark conduit because the boss will cast the second set of dark conduits and if they overlap it makes a huge explosion that can wipe the raid after this the boss will cast the third mark of the legion and we should be back to our assigned markers, once this is finished infernals and void stars will appear and its recommend to pop hero and the ring here to kill them quick and then be prepared again for seething corruption after that is done source of chaos will be casted again on a tank and its recommended that the tank suicides to avoid this mechanic, another set of void stars will appear and as always they must be killed quick because the other mark of the legion will appear and we need to be in our assigned groups last set of infernals will appear and its recommended to ignore them and just keep them stunned and kill the boss.
  38. As shadow priest I will always want to start the pull with 5 orbs so we can push the boss faster, so I usually get prepared before every pull and get my 5 orbs from trash outside hellfire or the dummies in the first room of hellfire assault. I position myself and start then prepoting 2 sec before pull and then precast mindspike after that I immediately pop shadow fiend followed by my first dp and mindblast then I start channeling insanity ( first 3 ticks and then recast it to get 4 other ticks ) to build up stacks of the class trinket and make the best use of the ring I keep mind blast on CD , and then I cast cascade because the doomfire will be up and I will have the opportunity to get twist of fate buff from either cascade or shadow word death on the doomfire , after that I apply my second DP and keep channeling insanity for about 3 ticks ,by this time you might want to start building up orbs and keeping the stacks of the class trinket up with either mindflay or insanity I use the glyph of reflective shield so when I need to soak the shadow feel burst I pop it so a portion of that absorb is transferred into damage in the boss, I move in between gcds or with mb(mind blast) on cd and try to stack to get the buff from the desecrate , the I position myself for the wrought chaos ,use power word shield when the laser will hit because it can reflect the damage to the boss ,when shackled torments are up if I get target I do the 3 ticks trick of insanity to get extra movement globals and run to max shackled range and wait until the raid leader calls out to break , since you are moving alot , to go back to the group I use restored faith or power word shield for the speed boost. If I don’t get the shackled I just run quickly away from the shackled players with my speed boost. I pay attention to the death caller to optimize my damage in it , I always try to snipe shadow word deaths after that the dogs will be up , when they are a bit spread I pop cascade to aoe them down , I also try to dot at least 1 dog to get ToF(twist of fate) buff and also I snipe a lot of shadow word deaths .In the combo wrought +dogs I use vampiric embrace and cascade to help the healers and I keep pushing the boss into 3rd phase , once in this phase I immediately go to and edge of the platform and spread out because conduits will happen , if there are remaining adds I try to get a SWD(shadow word death) on them to get ToF debuff and orbs. I also start preparing and move between globals to my assigned marker because mark of the legion will happen , 1 sec before the explosion will hit I use PWS(power word shield) so I reflect the damage from the explosion and also get a speed boost to move from the infernals landing , when all 3 infernals are up I cascade them and keep DP on them and also trying to snipe SWD , when source of chaos is up I keep my dp and a shadow word pain on it and also snipe SWD , then I move quickly to safe zones because seething corruption will happen , optimizing movement is really important here because you can lose the stacks of the class trinket if you waste too many globals , when void stars are up I use cascade on them and also snipe some SWD and I keep repeating the sequence until the boss dies.
