  1. Clippy Boots/Ultra Boots Early
  2.
  3. What this trick does: This glitch is used to get passed the Metal Block blocking the Ultra Boots without having the Ultra Hammer by utilizing Lakilester
  4.
  5. Categories used in: All Cards (Clippy boots route), All Bosses
  6.
  7. Why this trick is useful: This trick is useful because by being able to pass by the Metal Block with only the Super Hammer, Chapter 2 can be completed must faster, much later in the run. By doing Chapters 3 and 5 earlier in the run, Mario can have the Ultra Hammer and Mega Rush for chapter 2, making it much faster. However, in order for the Chapter 2 boss, Tutankoopa, to spawn, Mario must open the chest containing the Super Hammer which downgrades Mario's hammer to the Super hammer. With Clippy boots, this can be done because the Ultra Hammer is no longer required to get the Ultra Boots

  10. How the trick is done:
  11.
  12. Clippy:
  13. To begin this trick, Mario must use the Lakilester Menu Glitch (link that page) to achieve a clippy (link clippy page) status. To do this, Mario must be riding Lakilester and open the partner menu with C-Right on the same frame as when he touches a Dark Koopa and enters a battle. If this glitch is performed correctly, the partner swap menu should open up, but the battle with the Dark Koopa will being before a new partner can be chosen. Here is a gif that shows the Menu Glitch being done correctly http://imgur.com/g4FM13d (That is there instead of the entire video so i can break it into chunks. idk what you want to do with that). Mario must then exit the battle by either running or defeating the enemies. Once the battle is over, the partner menu will still be open and any partner may be selected. This gives Mario "Clippy" status, more info on how/why Clippy works can be found here (link to clippy page). If this part of the glitch was done, Mario should slightly clip into the wall and metal block like so (http://imgur.com/Ux11HbM)

  16. Metal Block Clip:
  17. The next part of the trick involves using Lakilester and Clippy to get passed the Metal block.
  18. The next part of the glitch involves Mario getting passed the Metal block. After Clippy is obtained, switch partners back to Lakilester. *WARNING* Do NOT get on Lakilester. Move Mario down to the bottom of the room and walk to the bottom left corner of. Move Mario to be directly below the Metal block and hold very slightly up from left. Mario should be facing toward the camera, but look like he slightly clipped into the bottom of the metal block. From here, do a full jump and Mario should end up on top of the metal block, but Lakilester should still be on the "ground" below the metal block. </sidenote> Lakilester must stay below the metal block and on the "ground" during this entire trick. In order for Lakilester to remain on the ground, Mario must be continuously moving. If Mario stops moving at any point, Lakilester will return to Mario's height </endsidenote>. After Mario is on the block, jump the the door frame. Once on the door frame, hold directly Up-Left. Mario should be doing his walk animation, which keeps Lakilester on the ground, but Mario should not be moving. From there, gradually rotate the joystick slightly up. As you move up, Mario will start to move up then slightly jump back down. Keep moving past that angle and Mario should start to slide down the door frame slope. The angle where Mario slides down the door frame is the correct angle that needs to be held. Once Mario starts sliding down the door frame, keep holding that same angle and jump to the top, flat part of the door frame. With the correct angle, Mario should be slightly clipped inside the wall like so (http://imgur.com/ZXogtuD). *Note* Mario will not be in this position for very long, that is just a reference point to see if you are getting the right angle and jump. After jumping to the top of the door frame, hold directly up and hit C-Down to jump on Lakilester (Yes, up. As counter-intuitive as it sounds, holding left will cause you to fail). Mario will now be inside the Metal block and you can hold left and enter the loading zone. *WARNING* IF YOU FAIL THE TRICK AND ARE RIDING LAKILESTER, DO! NOT! GET! OFF! LAKILESTER! This will cause the game to soft-lock, which would be bad. To prevent this soft lock, you must leave the room to the right and reenter the room. By entering a new area, the clippy glitch is canceled, preventing a soft lock. This also means you must do the Laki Menu Glitch to get clippy again to retry the clip.

  21. How this trick works:
  22. The first part of this trick involves Mario being able to jump on top of the Metal block and door frame. This is due to Mario being clippy, so his hitbox is slightly inside the Metal Block. When Mario jumps, his hitbox ends up being on top of the Metal block hit box allowing him to stand on it. The main part of this clip is where Mario ends up inside the metal block after riding Lakilester. This is due to the properties of Lakilester's C-Down ablility. When Mario hopes on Lakilester, Lakilester teleports to Mario's X and Y location, however, Mario teleports to Lakilester's Z location. This is why Lakilester must stay below the Metal block. When Mario jumps to the top of the door frame and is slightly clipped into the wall, his X and Y position are the same as inside the metal block by the loading zone. Meanwhile, Lakilester's Z direction is also located at the same Z location as the inside of the Metal Block and the loading zone. This means when Mario uses Lakilester's ability, Mario teleports to Lakilester's Z direction while maintaining his X and Y direction. When these three planes line up, the game places Mario directly next to the loading zone inside the Metal block.
