>Asuka's birthday was going wonderfully so far

>you both spent the day celebrating with her close friends and family, everyone chowing down on futmoaki and cake

>you even got to meet more of her family on this occasion, her grandmother brought some new faces with her

>she helped introduce the three girls, Hanabi, Kafuru and Renka, her cousins

>Hanabi seemed very carefree, a bit of an airhead, vigorously shaking you hand to greet you

>Kafuru was quick taunt Hanabi about how much her chest started bouncing because of that, until Sayuri reminded them to play nice

>Renka salvaged the scene by introducing herself, greeting you with a more casual slap on the back

>what a lively trio they were

>as the day dragged on the festivities moved from the sushi shop to a park nearby, where Hanabi was setting up a special show for the birthday girl

>nighttime found you and Asuka together on a park bench, the first bit of quality alone time you had with her for the day

>Hanabi was kind enough to leave you with some sparklers to keep yourself entertained while she setup

>Asuka held out one for you to light for her, then using the sparking stick to trace in the air a bit

>"So, did you have fun today, anon?", she inquires

>"Of course. I should be asking you that really", you light another for yourself

>"Well, it's just that my family can be a bit of a handful already, and then you met even more of them-"

>"Who, those girls? They seem nice. It's cool that Hanabi can setup stuff like this", you try to assure her

>"Oh, Hanabi? You should see the kinds of awesome fireworks displays she can put on!", she recall some stories for you

>"...There was one time she blew all of our clothes off with the blast! Grandma was so mad and Grandpa couldn't stop laughing" she herself starts to giggle at the memory

>"Ah, yeah...", she sighs before realizing, "ah, wait, I got sidetracked!"

>Asuka takes a deep breath before turning to you,"That's not all I wanted to say..."

>"W-well, I was kinda worried that...", she seemed a bit shy to continue now,"with all of those people around..."

>"That maybe you may have wanted some alone time with me today?"

>"What?", you aren't sure if you did anything to give her that idea

>"Well isn't that natural for two people in a relationship!?", her cheeks flush red

>"Oh, I didn't mean it like that! I just dunno where you got that idea from. I enjoyed myself today"

>"Really?", she still seems a bit skeptical, so you go on

>"And it'd be selfish of me to try to keep you all to myself. You have so many friends and a huge family, I can't take you away from them on your birthday"

>you take her hand in yours to drive it home, "But as long as you're happy, I am"

>that left her speechless a bit

>"Wow, I...", she trails off, before just leaning in for a hug,"Thank you, anon"

>you rub her back, wishing that this embrace could go on forever

>however, over Asuka's shoulder, you can see Hanabi running away from the stack of explosives she was preparing

>before you can even pull away to show Asuka the first round of blast fire off,  loud crack signalling the start of the show

>"Woah", the array of colors takes both your breathes away

>you both sit in awe as the sky is lit up beautifully, the explosions drowning out any attempt at conversation

>since you couldn't tell her you love her in this moment, your hand squeezes hers a bit tighter

>Asuka seems to get the message, returning the affection by leaning against you as the finale went on

>with her this close, you whisper to her, "Happy birthday Asuka"
